What is the Difference Between CMYK and Spot Color?

PDFPrintE-mail

Full color printing is CMYK, where printing inks are mixed together, made into four plates of dots, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black and printed. The other type Spot Color, is a solid color such as Pantone 072, or Pantone Metallic 872 which can be printed by itself, or added as a 5th or 6th color to a CMYK job.
